We are always glad to hear your reactions.<\/p>\n<p>All BFS screenings currently take place in The Maltings Cinema at Berwick Barracks (while the main Maltings site is being redeveloped) where you can relax in comfort and enjoy the big screen digital experience.\u00a0 \u00a0BFS filmshows are friendly and informal, and\u00a0 aim to take you into new and sometimes unexpected places!<\/p>\n<h2>Why Films in Berwick?<\/h2>\n<p>Berwick Film Society was set up in response to demand after the first Berwick Film &amp; Media Arts Festival in 2005. We take our audiences to places, cultures and filmic experiences which they might otherwise miss.\u00a0 The BFS team are committed to bringing quality hand-picked films to Berwick:\u00a0 films which provoke thought; films which raise awareness;\u00a0 films which take you somewhere special and then linger in the memory.<\/p>\n<p>Locally-based filmshows create an event for the community and encourage people to come out, meet up with friends and be part of the audience experience.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we confess to being hopelessly biased: BFS believes a strong programme of films can provoke discussion, offer insight, escape, inspiration, a mental and visual feast and \u2014 not least \u2014 a really good night out!\u00a0 In these times of global turmoil, popping out to see a good film with BFS is a relatively inexpensive way to experience a thought-provoking escape into other realms.\u00a0 And it gets us off our sofas!<\/p>\n<h2>Who are we?<\/h2>\n<p>Genni Poole: Coordinator\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 John Spiers: Subscriptions \u00a0 \u00a0 Maurice Ward: Finance<\/p>\n<p>A small but committed team of locally-based individuals sharing a huge passion for film.\u00a0 We come from professional backgrounds in project management, event organisation, libraries and adult training.\u00a0 We organise filmshows, research and select titles for Berwick Film Society in an entirely voluntary capacity, and our filmnight stewards are also volunteers.\u00a0 BFS welcomes offers of assistance!\u00a0 If you are interested in volunteering,\u00a0\u00a0contact us.<\/p>\n<p>Berwick Film Society is a Registered Charity:\u00a0 No. 1174531.<\/p>\n<h2>What kind of films do we show?<\/h2>\n<p>Broadly, we programme a range of films: from contemporary gems from around the world to specialist titles and vintage classics.
